Lines + Stars Reading this Saturday!

The Lines + Stars Winter Reading and Reception this Saturday! Featuring Mark McCloughan, Diana Smith Bolton, and Sarah Winn.  Mark your calendars. The event will be held at the Petworth Citizen.

Yes, I know the event is on a Saturday evening. Maybe you have other plans. But it’s cold outside and what better way to warm up than to listen to some great poetry. And hey, the reading and reception is free. And in this economy you can’t ask for anything more.

What makes Lines + Stars unique is that unlike other poetry and short prose journals, they cannot afford to pay writers for their work. Think about that. These writers are taking their time to entertain you for free. And what makes Lines + Stars even more unique is that they focus most of their work from  Washington, D.C.-area writers.

So let’s give Lines + Stars and all their writers a big hand and support them this Saturday.

Barrett Warner at the Inner Loop reading!

Barrett Warner will be among the poets who will read at the Inner Loop: Happy Loop Year on January 21st (please see events calendar for more details).

You will have a chance to listen to an award winning writer who has been publishing since 1982. Last year, he received the Chris Toll Memorial Prize for his poetry chapbook My Friend Ken Harvey (Publishing Genius), the Salamander fiction prize for his story “Dimension,” and the Cloudbank poetry prize for his poem “Tanya, Tanya, Tanya.”

Currently, Warner reviews books, writes essays, and lectures. His work can be found in Revolution John, Four Chambers, Consequence Magazine, Chiron Review, Entropy, and Cultural Weekly.

Here is an interview he gave with the Coal Hill Review in April 2013.

Diana Smith Bolton will read at Lines + Stars Reception

Diana Smith Bolton will read at Lines + Stars Winter Reading and Reception on January 17th (please see the events calendar for more details). Bolton is the founding editor of District Lit. Her poems have appeared in 32 Poems, Jet Fuel Review, and elsewhere.
